Hi all! Our friend Dean Pitchford, amazing songwriter (Footloose anyone?) and children’s book author (The Big One-Oh, Captain Nobody), wrote to tell George and me about this singing/video sensation. Give it a listen…it’s playful and innovative. Here’s Dean’s message below, along with the link.

It was this past summer when I first saw videos of a young Yale student named Sam Tsui who, with a video producer friend, has been creating these astonishing a capella mash-ups on youtube… singing every part himself. His story has begun to gain celebrity and he recently (in late September) did the Bonnie Hunt song and sang your song. I think you’ll agree: his musical chops are extraordinary. And your song sounds as fresh and plaintive and celebratory as ever! Here’s the link:

A fine friend sent this youtube link about the recording of the Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper album. You can view it in segments for the full tour. Their songs are little time released miracles that contain echos of the past and future…some strange and wondrous vortex was at play when Lennon and McCartney met and began writing…imagine where music would be now if not for the influence of their free thinking genius and the wise guidance of George Martin.
